Research Resources

Anthropology Biography Web
http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/information/biography/
• An ever-expanding database with over 850 biographical sketches of anthropological figures. Helpful information about the anthropologists' key contributions to the discipline and life experiences can be found in most of the vignettes. Each entry also contains relevant bibliographic references and web links on its subject anthropologist, and, occasionally, a photograph. (Since the authors of the sketches are all students, the quality of the entries and the writing can be uneven.)

Anthropology Reference Works in the TCU Library
[add anchored link to Word file stored on site]
• Annotated list of anthropology-related encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, and guides in the TCU library's collections. Very useful starting point to locate general anthropological information and potential paper topics. Supplements the library's Anthropology Research Guide (see below). Compiled and annotated by TCU Anthropology Program Director Dr. Miguel Leatham.

Anthropology Research Guide: TCU Library
http://lib.tcu.edu/resguides/resguide.asp?ID=34
• Includes information on where you can find books on anthropology in the library (call number ranges), as well as helpful lists of electronic databases you can search for anthropology-related articles, anthropology encyclopedias and dictionaries, and more. Compiled by TCU Social Sciences Librarian Robyn Reid.

Anthropology Review Database
http://wings.buffalo.edu/ARD/
• A growing, open-access database of thousands of reviews of the anthropological literature. Some reviews are editorially solicited for ARD. Twelve anthropology journals (including Current Anthropology, Reviews in Anthropology, American Journal of Physical Anthropology, and American Antiquity) have also incorporated their book reviews into this database. Records are retrieved as citation only (for journals) or full-text (for reviews posted with ARD). Reviews may be searched by author, title, publisher, year(s), medium, and reviewer (features may be used in coordination).
